Who’s Invited?
This is an Open Source process. The short answer is “Everyone is invited.”
However, some prospects do come to mind… although none have been invited. We welcome interested individuals, companies, and organizations to engage with this Safricar initiative. Dream with us!
CSIR – The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research is an important bridge to go to scale with the small start that C4L has already made in introducing aftermarket hydrogen hybrid. The claims of better combustion, lower fuel consumption and eliminating pollution must be validated.
HydroxSystems Canada – This international firm is already providing hardware to heavy machinery for mining and construction related to on-board hydrogen. It has warehousing in South Africa for distribution of its products. It has been helpful in introducing the technological innovations to C4L, in a way that enhances its human development remit. So it is a prime mover of this initiative.
“Our hydrogen Oxygen on demand electrolysis reactor reduces fuel consumption by 40% and allows you to meet emissions requirements when you remove the Catalytic converter. The Hydrogen Oxyxgen on demand acts as a catalyst for a more complete and cleaner burn of the fuel from 60% to 80%. Selling the catalytic converter can help subsidise the cost of the kit.”

Toyota – This brand dominates the taxi industry. So instead of competition, we want to draw it into a “value-added” role. One use of Safricars will be passenger transport.
Mahindra – This brand has taken on the mantle of Land Rover and Landcruiser, the previous gold standards. To build African vehicles suitable for Africa requires this inheritance.
Ford Ranger – This brand dominates the bakkie market for commercial farmers. One use of Safricars will be as a light lorry for use around the farm. A variation of the bakkie could be a closed cargo van.
Youth Movements – We need a slogan like “Organize, don’t agonize” to mobilize youth voices behind this initiative. Various youth organizations from politics, government, civil society and business are welcome to come on board.
